– SO TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DIVINE CELEBRATION THAT BEGAN GOING ON INSIDE MY BEING A FEW YEARS AGO, I FELT OBLIGED TO ENVISION AN IMAGINED CELESTIAL CATHEDRAL –
Thus suggesting the endless presence of God on earth and beyond – even in outer space. Furthermore, I rendered and used the our world's best known faith-based symbology throughout heart brain heartsoul. During that process, I came to realize what I believe every doctrine has in common with all the others. They all endeavor to follow their own very similar version of "The Golden Rule". What could be better to ensure the survival of a spiritually founded civilization as we enjoy here on our world? That which continues to inspire murals like the 4-page file entitled hbhsMuralReligiosity.pdf. It like all the rest are your's to freely receive from the page on this site called Downloads
...in so many different ways is incredibly reinforcing. To me, it is the strongest testament of His existence imaginable. Because belief in God is furthered by the vast majority of Earth’s human inhabitants. Therefore, by including fair representation of all, as difficult as that can be to render at times, my intention is simply to joyfully honor everyone who follows Him wherever possible.
As for me, as always, I still dance with and worship the one who brought me–Jesus Christ.
While we have always been together, our venue for visible demonstrations of closeness has occasionally changed. So far, I have been a Catholic, a Methodist, a Baptist and am now a Presbyterian. While my dad was a Catholic, my mom was a Congregationalist*. She allowed us kids to be anything we liked so long as it was in walking distance. Much like my dad who was as devout in his faith as he also was unimposing. For example, how clear, painless and righteous were his directives. Like, "you may stay out at night until the street lights turn on"
Ever notice how all of God's creations have soft edges (like clouds, mountains, trees, water…us…and so on…)? Maybe so we all can, in the most beautiful of visual ways, gradate into one another. While most straight sharp edges and totally black and white beliefs seem to have been invented by us.
Big “but”, though, and point well taken. Just recently, a friend asked me to take out the “multiple-religions element” from one of my drawings. Rather than seeing it as a happy reference to so many different ways for worshiping God, they thought of it as unnecessarily applying a touchy subject to an otherwise positive work of art.
Like my father always said, “the older you get” the dumber you get. It took me a long time to find out that the “you” part didn’t just apply to me. He meant that's how it is for everyone. So while understanding my friend’s view and having gotten similar hints from others since posting hbhs online, all I can do is defer to father’s “dumb” saying. Thus to fairly continue what for me is an exploration to discover how unique and the same it really is. That which goes on deep inside of everyone. Which in this particular reality show just happens to be searched for by me. As you might also notice in some other religiosity pieces to be acquired at Downloads
*Congregational Church Christians believe in the spiritual equality and priesthood of all believers. In practice, this means they hold to the Bible and belief in Jesus, but individual members have "the full liberty of conscience in interpreting the Gospel," according to The Art and Practice of the Congregational Way.
I have been creating art for over 10 years, specializing in oil paintings and charcoal sketches. My work has been featured in several local galleries and exhibitions.
